Elk Cove acquires Goodrich Road Vineyard

Elk Cove Vineyards Purchases Goodrich Road Vineyard

Elk Cove Vineyards has purchased Goodrich Road Vineyard, a 69 acre property planted with 21 acres of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, in Yamhill, Oregon.

Located in the heart of the Yamhill-Carlton AVA (American Viticultural Area), Goodrich Vineyard was planted in 2007 with Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in high-density format. The property boasts the exact same marine sediment (Willakenzie) soil as Elk Cove’s Mount Richmond property, also located in Yamhill, Oregon. Goodrich Road Vineyard is situated just a few miles from Elk Cove’s original Estate Vineyard in Gaston.

According to Elk Cove’s winemaker Adam Campbell “Elk Cove always looks out for great opportunities to secure grapes from top vineyard sites in great AVA’s in the Northern Willamette Valley. The chance to procure 21 acres of immaculately farmed Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vines in an area we knew was top notch was too much to pass up. Top reserve quality and single-vineyard Pinot Noirs have been made from this site by our friends at Raptor Ridge, Soter, King Estate and many others.”

About Goodrich Vineyard:

• In the Yamhill-Carlton AVA, home to many of Oregon’s best vineyards.
• High density planting of 4 acres Chardonnay, 17 acres Pinot Noir of high-end premium clones and rootstock.
• Shallow Willakenzie soil with excellent drainage.
• Sustainably farmed and LIVE certified (Low Input Viticulture & Enology)
• SE facing with elevation of 225 – 300 feet
• 20 plantable acres remaining

Elk Cove is a historic Willamette Valley winery owned by the Campbell family. Second generation Winemaker, Adam Campbell, sustainably farms over 300 acres of primarily Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris grapes on 6 separate sites in the Northern Willamette Valley of Oregon: the Elk Cove Estate, Windhill Vineyard, Five Mountain Vineyard, Mount Richmond Vineyard, Clay Court Vineyard and the newly acquired Goodrich Road Vineyard. This year marks Elk Cove’s 40th year growing grapevines in Oregon.

Zepponi & Company, the global wine industry mergers and acquisitions advisory firm, served as the exclusive financial advisor to the seller and negotiated the sale.
